Owning the right Real Estate
is important and I like this comic, but I also know that
there are many different kinds of sharks. If I can
help to keep them from taking advantage of you, I will
happily. When you are purchasing Real Estate, consider the location, schools (even if you don't have children), condition of the property, and how much you are willing to do if the property needs repairs. Consider how much you like to personally do maintenance if you can't or don't want to afford it yourself. When it comes to upgrades, take into account that major upgrades contribute to a lot of divorces. For the most part, people see what they want to see, and sharks can take advantage of that. I always keep in mind what I have discussed above and I point out what I believe are the positives and negatives of a property, so that you can make an informed decision. When you already own a property, the sharks look different, but there are sharks none the less. Keep in mind how a remodel, modification, or upgrade will effect the value of your property. A good remodel can add value to your property, while a bad remodel can take value away. It's important to be comfortable in your own home, but most people can do that while still maintaining or increasing value. Once again, keep in mind how a major remodel can effect your relationships. When you are thinking of selling your home, light, bright, clean, and neat still helps a property sell. Modifications to your property that enhance its lightness, brightness, cleanliness and neatness will all be to your advantage. As always, if you need some help or have a question about remodeling, upgrading, purchasing or selling, just give me a call. I am more than happy to come by and give you some professional advice. |

Garden essentials:
From My Kitchen to Yours People who know me well know that I come from a family of chefs. Disliking working holidays, we all found other professionals later in life. I have a brother who was a pastry chef, another who specialized in ice carvings, and my personal favorite, I like to flame things. I've decided to share some of my favorites on a monthly basis. Not whole meals, but just a course. After a few months, you can invite a few friends over and put together a delicious meal. (Remember, you won't find these in any cookbook, because I can't write.) Enjoy! Flaming Beef Tenderloin (serves 4): Ingredients: 1lb beef tenderloin, 4 pieces of bacon, 1/4 cup of onion, a few slices of scallion, 1/4 of sweet peppers (Whole Foods sells them in a small container), 3 Crimini mushrooms, 1 package of Knoll Béarnaise Sauce, 1/4 cup Christian Brothers Brandy to flame and salt and pepper to taste. Cut-up the bacon and place it in a non-stick sauté pan over medium low heat, when the first side is done (before it is crisp) turn it over and at the same time add the onions and scallions. When the onions turn clear, take out the bacon, onions, and scallion and place in a bowl leaving the bacon fat in the pan. Take the tenderloin after you have cut it into bite size chucks and place it in the pan. Cook all sides, but do not over cook. When the tenderloin is almost done, add back the bacon, onion, scallions, and add the chopped up sweet peppers, mushrooms, and salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 1 minute and then add the brandy. Turn the flame up to high and gently tilt the sauté pan into the flames to ignite the dish. If you are cooking with electricity, I would recommend using a long match or BBQ starter. The goal is to ignite the brandy fumes. This will burn off the alcohol and leave you with a wonderful flavor. When the blue flame goes out, the alcohol is gone and the dish is done. Turn off the heat and place the pan on a cool burner. Make the Knoll Béarnaise Sauce per instructions on the package. Divide the tenderloin between four plates and spoon the sauce over it. Serve the tenderloin as the entre of your meal. I do not serve it over anything as I do not want to distract from the flavor. Bon appetite! If this seems too complicated or maybe too dangerous, keep in mind that just a good referral will get you an invitation to a dinner that I cook just for you. I of course also get the pleasure of your company which I truly enjoy.

All In the Family |

I am still handling my
mother's affairs, so I go to San Diego from time to time.
I have decided not to sell the Vaya Con Dios sailboat and I
am currently looking for an uncovered slip on Lake
Washington. Anyone know of a 37ft uncovered slip for
rent? I could also use an introduction to the
Meydenbauer Bay Club or the Seattle Yacht Club.
Thanks. Cindy is busy as always. Lots going on with Spring right around the corner. Christina and the family are enjoying the snow in the Sierras. I am behind in calling James again. Samantha got engaged and is planning a wedding for the summer of 2009. Zack is a nice guy. Scott is still trying to juggle school, friends, and the pressures of growing up. All the animals say, "Hi!" Until next month, hold the ones you love closer, take time to remember you are blessed, and enjoy your life. Happy Easter!!! |
